1979 Ford Escort RS2000. This car was recently on The Giveaway Guys competition website. The lucky winner opted for the cash alternative so we are selling it on their behalf. Its a 1979 RS2000 base model which came with no clock pod, centre console and originally with basic seats and steel wheels. We have known or known off the last 3 owners, of this car. About 5 years ago the owner at that time upgraded the wheels and front seats. Its a lovely example which is fairly original and appears to be still on its first time round the block in terms of the bodyshell. Its had 6 prev owners and has done 68000 miles. It was fitted with a Webasto sunroof a long time ago. Not sure if it was from new or not.
Body - RS2000 base model. Has all the right brackets on it in the right places. I cant see any signs of it ever being welded and it looks like it still has its original wings. Its been coated with clear waxoyl underneath and is very solid. The paintwork is lovely with only very very minor marks and a slight rub through on the bootlid edge, from polishing. Its very straight along the sides and the panel gaps are good. The doors all close as they should and fit well.
Mechanics - Good strong engine which is quiet and no smoke or nasty rattles. Still has its original 4 speed box. A few minor upgrades have been done. Its got a 4 branch manifold, Janspeed exhaust and a Burton Rocker Cover. All the alloy sump, bellhousing, mounts and original air filter are in place.Car starts , runs and drives well. Its had a manual choke fitted which it doesnt really need as it starts well , hot or cold.
Interior - Being a base model there was no clock pod or centre console fitted. This model also came with the short door cards. Its had fishnets fitted about 5 years ago which look like original cover and are in good order. Small mark on drivers side bolster but very minor. Back seat is good, headlining and carpet are all good as is the dashtop. All the gauges work as they should but the speedo and rev counter needles are a slightly different shade of orange from the small gauge needles.
Wheels - Genuine 7" Ronals in good order with good Yokohama A539 185 60 13 tyres.
