For Sale on behalf of a Private Collector is an Ex Works MK1 RS1600 VVX958L.
This car was first used by Hannu Mikkola on the 1972 RAC Rally in Left Hand Drive. It was then converted to right hand drive and was the main prize for the winner of the Kleber Wheelbase Scholarship, for use with support from Ford, on certain events in 1973. Chris Sclater was the winner and used the car on the 73 Monte (16th and part of winning manufacturers team prize). Then the Acropolis finishing 7th and then the Sherry Rally in Spain which he won. It was then sold it to Billy Coleman who won the British Rally Championship with it in 1974.
The car appears to have been in storage for many years and was bought by a chap in Germany called Peter Jager. who stated "he has kept the body shell as it was when he bought it, but he has restored all mechanical parts completely.  Peter and his son used the Escort only as a course-opening car and on demonstration events with the sole purpose of having a lot of fun.  At this point it was converted back to left hand drive , This was around 2015. It has covered around 3000 kms since the rebuild. The current owner purchased the car in 2018 and since then it has seen very little mileage , although it is started and run regular.

We have spoken to Chris by email who has been very helpful and has sent us some pictures of the car in action back in 1973. A couple of pics are included from the "Collection of Chris Sclater".
Numerous diecast models have been made of this car in various liveries over the cars. The car has been autographed by a number of rally stars including Hannu Mikkola, John Davenport and Walter Rohrl.
These cars dont come up for sale very often. This represents a fantastic opportunity for a serious collector. This car can still be used in anger if required its not just an exhibit like some.
The eagle eyed among you will notice only two wheel nuts on each wheel in the pic. We are waiting on more new nuts coming and this will obviously be rectified prior to sale.
Viewing is by appointment but by all means come and see the car. We have a large workshop and a ramp so you can fully inspect the car. Delivery can be arranged in the UK. International shipping can be arranged upon receipt of cleared funds for the car.
