Ford Escort MK1 GT fitted with a 2.0 Zetec. This car starts runs and drives spot on and has had fortunes spent on it over the last few years. Its a genuine GT with paperwork from Ford to verify. Its a type 48 shell. The car was imported from South Africa many years ago when really good ones were still readily available. Its all UK registered and we have lots of receipts for everything thats been spent on it. 

 

Body - Type 48 GT South African GT shell. Appears to have all the same strengthening as a Type 49 shell but without the tramp bar brackets. The shell is superb underneath and completely solid only ever having had very minor repairs. When the car came in it was taken back to bare metal , had RS wings fitted and painted in Diamond White back in 2017. Since then its been used for a few weekend runs and car shows but still looks superb. New headlights and indicators, new glass, new bumpers, new headlining and carpet.

 

Mechanics - 2.0 Zetec Blacktop, NODIZ ECU, ZX6R Bike Carbs, Chester Sportscars conversion package including Retro Ford sump and Water Rail. Electric fuel pump and regulator. Alloy radiator, 2.25 inch Ashley twin box exhaust system, type 9 5 speed gearbox, single piece prop. New bilstein front coilovers, alloy hubs, poly bushed, rose jointed adjustable TCAs, Twin cam ARB, Quickrack, english axle, new bearings, adjustable gaz shocks, new springs and bushes, Willwood tandem master cylinder, willwood powerlite calipers, drilled and grooved discs. 9 inch rear drums.

 

Interior - 6 dial dash which all works perfectly. Springalex steering wheel. Recaro front seats, standard rear.

 

Wheels - 6" Minilite style wheels with 175/70/13 tyres

 

This has to be one of the best Escorts Ive driven for a while. Its properly put together, drives nicely and everything works. its a real credit to the owner.
