1980 Ford Escort 1600 Sport. Very original car which has never been previously repaired, welded, botched or filled. Great basis for a project / restoration. I bought this car from a collector in South Africa who got it from the original owner. Its only done 98000 kms or just over 60000 miles. All tax and duty has been paid and the NOVA declaration done. Will need UK registered but we will help you when you get to that stage.
Body - Genuine 1600 Sport with strengthened shell similar to our RS models. Good inner wings, strut tops, arches, all original panels. With SA cars they tend to rot where the water gets trapped and either side of any corrosion is solid. They dont use salt on the roads which was what killed our cars. This car has not previously been restored, patched up or tarted up so you can see exactly what you are dealing with. Will need repairs on lower heater bubble and bulkhead lip, Driver sill step, doorposts, both rear boot wells, nsf floor pan. More pictures can be sent if needed. Paintwork is obviously well worn and most panels have a few minor dings.
Interior - All original 1600 sport which is very clean. Good seats which are very clean with no rips or tears or sagging. Perfect brown dash top, centre console and steering wheel. Good headling, doorcards and carpet.
Mechanics - Very quiet 1600 crossflow with original 4 speed box and all original sport mechanicals. car starts runs and drives and is very tight as yopu would expect with low mileage.
Wheels - Standard deep dish sport steels with 175 70 13 tyres.
