1978 Ford Escort 1.6 GL Automatic. RHD Import from South Africa which is very solid and original underneath. All tax and duty paid and UK registration has been applied for. Starts runs and drives but will need a bit tinkering to get on the road.

Body - Export Spec shell with extra strengthening at the front, similar to our RS shells. Original strut tops, pillars, floors, sills, arches. Overall a very original and strong shell. Evidence of a previous minor bump on nsf corner. You can see where its been repaired which is not the best and could do with being tidied up for sure. Otherwise the shell is very original and not been welded. Very minor hole not even finger nail size in spare wheel well.Car has been repainted at some stage and its tidy and perfectly useable. Being an Auto this car has the bigger tunnel than the standard model.

Mechanics - Good 1.6 711M block crossflow. Starts fine and is quiet. Runs and drives. Gearbox works as it should, brakes are fine. We do not have any history on the car so a basic service as a minimum would be required, and a good checkover. The carb may also need adjusting due to the very different climate.

Interior - All standard. Passenger seat has had a repair and the rear seat has sun damage right along the top. Good door cards, and headlining. good dashtop. Carpet a bit worn on drivers side.

Wheels - Standard steelies with grandma spec hubcaps. Tyres are ditchfinders
