Ford Cortina Savage 3000E. Genuine Car which comes with lots of history and letters confirming its authenticity. This car was built in July / August 1969 and had a special Weslake Tuning pack fitted in Sep 1969 increasing the power to 194 BHP. Its a reasonably well known car in the Cortina circles with the last owner having had it for 13 years.The previous owner to that had it since 2000 but knew the car back to 1984. Its had 9 owners in total. The history file has lots of old MOTs, the original letters from the first owner confirming the order,  a letter showing the extras ordered with the car, and lots of letters between the first owner and Race proved including a letter from Jeff Uren himself. There is loads more information in the file which makes interesting reading, including a complaint letter stating faults found and the fact it ran out of petrol when it was collected.  We also have copies of all old V5s and original green/buff style log book. 

 

Body - Good looking car which sits well. Underbonnet is really tidy. Good inner wings, strut tops, sills, doors, boot, bonnet, arches, pillars. Very solid underneath. Has been undersealed form new then it looks like its had been redone at some stage. Few dents underneath from jacking up in the wrong places and it looks like its had a couple of minor repairs in the past. Overall for its age its remarkably solid and fairly original looking. Paintwork is very tidy. Chromework is good and straight. Original spotlights look in good order. 

 

Mechanics - Car starts first time with no problem. the engine was rebuilt a number of years back we are told by a fellow savage enthusiast and its not done a lot of miles since. It pulls well and is really quick for a old car. Gearbox and clutch are good. Brakes are good. There are receipts for thousands going back over the years and it looks like in recent years the car has got whatever was needed. I drove this briefly yesterday and was surprised how well it pulls.

 

Interior - All in very good original and looks very original. Seats have no rips or tears. Wood is good. Wood rimmed steering wheel with matching gearknob. Bluetooth radio fitted. Door cards have had speakers fitted at some point in the past. 

 

Wheels - Dunlop D1s with good tyres.
